talked to mom to get updates on baby and karen.
both are doing mediocre. seems baby's lungs collapsed a little when he got to the nicu unit but he is breathing halfway on his own, the rest is oxygen and respirator. And his lungs havent produced the liquid they need to yet so they are being put in manually. But he seems to be doing okay all things considered. Karen is kind of touch and go. They say she'll make it but mom doesnt sound so sure. She cried on the phone and said that she had too much poison in her blood. The levels seemed to go from medium level and nothing to be concerned about to off the charts within 30 minutes and they were rushing her into surgery. They had to get him out so fast that they had to cut her up and down instead of the normal side to side. Now they are kind of touch and go on wether she'll make it or not. She is scared, keeps asking if she's going to be alright and if Merak is going to be alright... It appears that being pregnant was just too hard on her. They have lots of doctors and nurses working on her and they are pretty sure that they can save her. I cant even begin to describe my frustration. They knew that she had this toximia 3 days ago, yet they kept her pregnant, therefore letting it go untreated and worsen. Now all of a sudden they seem surprised that it went nuts and now they have to run around performing emergency surgeries and worrying about wether or not she'll even make it through the night. All of which could have been easily avoided if they would have just taken the baby out when they first saw the problems then both of them would be alright... They should both be alright though, its kind of scary and dangerous but everyone seems to think that they can save them both. they are in the best hospital around and have lots of doctors working on them. And hopefully they know what they are doing and can help us to get our family back together ASAP. I just pray that they both come home safely... would appreciate it if you'd pray to whatever god or gods you worship as well, can use all the help we can get. It doesnt seem fair, they've tried for so long to have this perfect family and it seemed like our puzzle was finally complete. Joe is here, and then with the baby it made a happy family of 5... Now it seems like thats all in jeopardy and I just dont think thats very fair... how can 2 people who work so hard and try so hard to be good people have to go through such pain?
