Ugh, this spring break has officially sucked...

Woke up this morning at 10 when my mom called and told me that she was taking Karen to the hospital because the doctor checked her blood pressure at her normal biweekly appointment and it was too high.

So they sent her to the hospital and hooked her and the baby up to a monitor. Her blood pressure was in the 190's and they couldnt get it to go down. She's also got protein in her urine which is a bad thing, along with a small case of justational diabeties. She's have a few mild contractions but isnt dialating at this point.

After spending about 5 hours at the local hospital the pressure wasnt going down so they transfered her to Shreveport to the hospital at LSU. They have a level 3 nicu which means they can save babies as early as 22 weeks along. She's made it to 29 weeks.

Their goal is to keep him in for another 3 weeks and then induce labor. But if they cant get her blood pressure to decrease naturally they will have to do a cesarean and take him in order to give her the medicine she'll need to lower it.

If they dont take the baby then she will probably stay and be monitored through the weekend and allowed to come home on bedrest for the next 3 weeks.

So I may have a little brother earlier than expected. He's doing alright as of now, heartrate is still doing good. He's 4 pounds and 14 inches long. So he'll be small but his chances of survival are really good.

So everyone please pray to whatever god/gods you may believe in that both karen and baby will come out of this safely and healthy.

Update::

Well our 3 week goal doesnt look very good at all right now. Now they are just hoping that she can keep the baby until Saturday so that they have time to give her a shot of steroids that will hopefully boost the baby's lung development and give him a little bit of a headstart when he's born. They gave Karen some medicine and she seemed to react well to it for a while but the last 2 pressures that were taken showed that she was going back up. They are pretty much out of options since they are limited on what medicines she can take. If they cant get it to go down again they will have to take him tonight...
